Effective January 2025, a vacancy will exist for a LTS Instructional Support Teacher at Marshall Street Elementary School within the Norristown Area School District. This position will last until the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
The Instructional Support Teacher is responsible for working with teachers across subject areas, for modeling best practice lessons, for supporting buildings with analyzing instructional data, for working with small groups of students and for providing staff development. This person is also responsible for ensuring effective implementation of the district’s goals, programs, and instructional framework to ensure that student growth and increased student achievement are continuous and appropriate for all students.

Master’s degree in education

Valid and Active PDE Teaching Certification

Five years of full-time teaching experience
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Professional development experience which has involved adult learning

In-depth knowledge of reading processes, acquisition, assessment, and instruction

Thorough knowledge of the range of effective instructional methods, materials, and practices that can be used at various grade levels
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction:
- Provides well coordinated, congruent, and quality support for teachers and students by supporting both Tier 1 and Tier 2 instruction
- Collaborates with, and articulates the school-wide academic plan to teachers, parents, and other specialized personnel, such as special education teachers, ELD teachers, and counselors
- Supports new district resource adoptions, pilots, and instructional goals
- Models and demonstrates the use of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and special needs and which enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities in the core content areas of math and literacy
- Provides coaching to classroom teachers with the goal of ensuring that teaching and learning is congruent with district goals and the instructional framework is of high quality, standards-based, researched-based and designed to meet the needs of all students
Assessment:
- Assist with implementing a school-wide assessment plan to systematically collect and analyze data that informs instruction and documents learning and growth
- Coordinates district assessments as outlined in the district assessment calendar, including providing professional development for teachers on how to administer and analyze the data from these assessments
- Interprets data, including but not limited to standardized and other test results, for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation
- Collaborates with classroom teachers in the interpretation of data and the development and implementation of appropriate intervention or acceleration program students according to MTSS guidelines
Leadership:
- Participates in district meetings to learn more about the theoretical foundations that define and structure the components of a comprehensive programs (i.e. literacy, math)
- Supports the building principal with developing and implementing academic goals for all students
- Assists with developing curriculum maps, and plans based on district and state instructional requirements, student profiles, and instructional priorities
- Works as a member of the school support team to ensure that every teacher is providing rigorous instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Works with colleagues to plan, prepare and implement new curriculum projects and initiatives
- Co-facilities grade-level or departmental meetings to improve student outcomes
- Leads professional development workshops, model strategies and conduct demonstration or collaborative lessons for teacher
- Serves as a resource to other specialized personnel by serving on instructional support teams
- Supports teachers – especially new teachers – and administrators in becoming more knowledgeable about effective instructional practices
- Serves as a resource to promote parental understanding and support for students’ academic goals
