At this time a vacancy exists for a HVAC Mechanic within the Norristown Area School District.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or its equivalent

Five years of full-time HVAC experience at least one of which has involved supervising employees or any combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human Resources
- Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools in the field of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and related systems

Valid driver’s license

Universal EPA Refrigeration Certificate
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs assigned maintenance staff in resolving issues (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that District locations are maintained in a safe and effective working/learning environment
- Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs
- Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition efficiency, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventative maintenance
- Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of the HVAC systems
- Assesses equipment, materials and labor needed to complete maintenance tasks for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance activities meet district standards
- Coordinates the services and activities of outside contractors as assigned for the purpose of ensuring that contracted work is completed in a safe, effective and timely manner
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
- Travels to various District facilities as needed

$35.58/hour
