Description

At this time a vacancy exists for a HVAC Mechanic within the Norristown Area School District. 

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent

  • Five years of full-time HVAC experience at least one of which has involved supervising employees or any combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human Resources

  • Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools in the field of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and related systems
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Universal EPA Refrigeration Certificate

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs assigned maintenance staff in resolving issues (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that District locations are maintained in a safe and effective working/learning environment
  • Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs
  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition efficiency, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventative maintenance
  • Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of the HVAC systems
  • Assesses equipment, materials and labor needed to complete maintenance tasks for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance activities meet district standards
  • Coordinates the services  and activities of outside contractors as assigned for the purpose of ensuring that contracted work is completed in a safe, effective and timely manner
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
  • Travels to various District facilities as needed

Rate & Schedule:

$35.58/hour
